Secret File: How Do Cats Communicate?

The Translation of Postures — Part 1
Cats meow—but they don't tell the real story there.
What they tell is hidden in their bodies, their eyes, their tails, and their micro-movements.
Their postures, small gestures, gazes…
They all speak in a different language.
In this series, you will read that silent language.
Loaf Sphynx Pose
Noble, upright, and alert;
calmly surveying its kingdom.
Paws tucked underneath, body calm, gaze open.
“I am relaxed… but I am in control.”
Watching peacefully to see if everything is in order..
Loaf Pose
The cat tucks its paws underneath, bringing its body into a compact and symmetrical form;
it is neither fully asleep nor fully awake. Comfort and control are in balance;
it feels safe but does not disconnect from its surroundings. Energy is inward, attention is outward.
As simple as a loaf of bread, just right.
Full Loaf
All paws are completely under the body, no paws are visible from the outside.
Maximum comfort, a high sense of security, and deep rest (but awareness is still active).
Full loaf, full trust, full balance.
Loaf and Full Loaf; a subtle difference.
In the loaf pose, the paws are tucked in with a small hint. It radiates the energy of: “I am content… but I can get up immediately if I need to.” If the paws have disappeared completely, it has transitioned to a full loaf: trust is inward, relaxation is deep—“now I am truly content.”
The only thing not to forget: in every state, the radars are on.
Half Loaf
One of the paws (or two) is not completely hidden; it remains slightly out.
A state of being relaxed but not fully let go. It relaxes… but that fine line is maintained:
“Of course, I’ll do whatever I want.”
Half loaf, controlled comfort.
